Top 10 Tracks of 2014

What a great year for music this year, and here's 10 songs that stuck to my head and bear in mind, these are not in ranked order as all of them were just too good!

Royal Blood - Figure It Out

This was a blast when I heard this at their set at Reading Festival this year and this was packed with intro riffs, pace change, and a catchy chorus. One of their standout tracks from their terrific debut album.

Young Guns - I Want Out

It's been a long time since Young Guns have released anything since their second album Bones, and to release such an anthemic song, I Want Out is a great track; stranding away from their usual rock roots and going for a more The Killers vibe, and after seeing this song live at Reading Fest. I can tell this will be a classic favourite for the fans once they go back on tour.

Catfish and the Bottlemen - Cocoon

Catfish and the Bottlemen are conquering the UK at the moment with their tour and this track are one of the reasons why. Their debut album features a lot of great tracks but this one stood out the most, It ranges different emotions, it's rhythmic and loud, it's a great indie song overall.

Beartooth - The Lines

One of the heaviest tracks this year from one of the heaviest post hardcore band today. Their album is aggressive with catchy choruses and chugging riffs but this particular track has one of the most addictive intros ever and the screams are less cringey, basically everything about this song is just pure awesomeness.

Darlia - Stars Are Aligned

This new and upcoming band hasn't released a full length album yet but from the songs they have released so far, particularly this track, I am anticipating for what they have in store next year. Mixture between Oasis, Nirvana and some punks bands, this track is a pure gem.

Bring Me The Horizon - Drown

Their most commercial and radio friendly track they have ever released, which makes me more excited for their next album and gives me some idea how their next album will shape. With vocals that fans will be chanting live, It's one of their best so far.

Wolf Alice - Moaning Lisa Smile

This short but addictive track is quite different from their other songs but the riff is aggressive and vocals are better than ever. It's simple but effective. Looking forward for their debut album.

Of Mice & Men - Feels Like Forever

Their latest album was a surprise; a reminiscent of hard rock songs from the 90s but still have their own significant sound, this track had essence of bands like Tool with its intro riff, and its chorus is just as memorable, it's aggressive and rythmic at the same time.

Alt-J - Hunger of the Pine

Their best track from their second effort, their lead single is minimalistic with its beats and vocals but it's extremely effective the more you listen to it. It really is an astounding song and a new style from the band and defined the whole album.

PVRIS - St. Patrick

One of the upcoming bands that deserves more recognition, after releasing such a terrific album. This 4 minute track is dark and dreamy filled with synths and funk. For fans of Echosmith and Paramore, this has one of the catchiest chorus you'll ever hear, and can't wait to hear it live.
